Things are not always as they seem, and the grass is never always greener on the other side, so here we will look at some reasons not to move to Canada.
1. You will miss home, family or friends
This is one of the biggest reasons people do not like to move anywhere in general. Even if there are issues back home, moving away to a far distant country is a big step, and you have to be mentally prepared. If you are not, you will not be happy.
2. Too cold
Canada is nice but the cold during winters are too cold. Unless you live in British Columbia, winters in Canada get as cold as -28 degrees below 0. Ice, snow, icy rain, snow storms, a huge increase in car accidents, etc.
3. It’s a rat race
Over 90 percent of people live paycheck to paycheck, meaning if they miss even one paycheck… they will not meet all their obligations and it might ruin their finances. Even taking a few days off for most people is very difficult. If you come to Canada, be prepared to work hard.
4. Your education is useless in Canada
This is a big one – you spend years in your country in school but all that education will not translate in Canada. Your schooling is not recognized here. So many doctors, engineers, etc from other countries come to Canada and end up working as cleaners, cashiers, etc.
5. Canada is expensive
Sure, salaries are higher than in most countries, but Canadians and anyone living in Canada are heavily taxed by the Canadian tax system. When buying food in the supermarkets, it shows you the price… but the truth is, you have no idea how much it is until it is time to pay. The level of taxation in Canada is crazy.
I love Canada and would move there for a few years, but long term, no. Too cold unfortunately.
